A Powerhouse Gospel Effect!

 

The lock is held up and offered as a representation of the lock that secures the gates of Heaven. Explanation is given for each of the five keys stating that:

 

a) Yellow- is for power as in a crown. Does having enough power over others secure my way into heaven?

 

b) Blue- is for calm. What if I’m the soothing source for others? Might I’ll be rewarded with the right key?

 

c) Green- is for money. Maybe if I do nice things with my money, will that open the gates?

 

d) Red- is for humor. What if I am as funny as Lucille Ball (red hair) and people laugh- might I sneak in while St. Peter is on the floor laughing?

 

e) Black-is for mystery. Maybe I can ponder the mysteries of the universe and discover another way into heaven.

 

Four volunteers are called forward and each selects a key. You explain that your goal will be to end up with the key that will open the lock. One by one they come up to the lock to try their key. You have them place their key in the lock which is held within your hand. You ask them not to turn the key yet. Instead, you offer them the chance to trade with you. If they trade then they insert the new key but again you have them stop. Maybe they want to trade with someone else.

 

Once the trading has stopped, you have them turn the key. The lock does not open. This is repeated until all four volunteers have tried to open the lock but each has failed. It appears then that you must have the right key!

You explain that JESUS CHRIST is the key to heaven and that there is no other key. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes unto the Father except by me.”

 

Placing your key into the lock. You explain that Jesus is the way for everyone who accepts Him as Savior! You can be (whichever key you have, for example, red) humorous. That won’t get you into heaven but with Christ all things are possible and, (turning the key and showing the lock open), and even though you are funny, you can enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

 

Then take one of the keys that failed. As you lock and then re-open the lock with each key, explain:

 

a) Yellow- we are powerless when it comes to heaven. But when we trust the Power of Jesus- the gate opens!

 

b) Blue- its about what Jesus has done for you! When He is the source of your calm- the gates will open!

 

c) Green- you can enter heaven if you are relying upon Jesus as Savior and not your money!

 

d) Red- with Jesus as your hope, you can serve Him even through humor and heaven will be yours.

 

e) Black- you can’t think your way into heaven but you can ask for the Mind of Christ! When that happens, you’ll see that He is the only “key” to heaven!
